Thursday info

This Thurday (tomorrow), our middle school is hosting the weekly middle school race. As we always do, our high school skiers will be on hand to help out, be good cheerleaders, make sure the middle school skiers don't ski off course, and be general good will ambassadors. This is is a classic race, so since there will be tracks, high school skiers should bring their classic skis.

Depending on how the race goes, it's possible that the van may arrive back to Desert Rd slightly later than usual. Skiers can call/text once we're underway.

Sassi Race coming up next weekend

Our next race is the Sassi Classic race next Saturday, January 25 at Black Mountain in Rumford. We need to put our entries in by 5:00pm on Wednesday, so all skiers should check their calendars (and their parents) and be prepared by Wednesday to say whether or not they will be skiing in the Sassi race. This is big race, really well run, and is attended by most teams in the state, so is a great opportunity to ski against many skiers that we won't typically see.

MLK Day Race

We are hosting Monday's MLK Day race at Pineland. That means we will need a number of parent helpers! I don't yet know specifically what you will be doing, but it will be something along the lines of collecting bibs, directing traffic, etc. Thank you to the couple parents that have already volunteered, however this is the one race where we need at least one parent (two is better) from every family. Please shoot Susan an email, letting her know you will be there ready to help and then come to the race on Monday, arriving by 10:30 when we will give you a race assignment.

Here's what there is to know about the race:

Monday, January 20
First race 11:00
Pineland - Oak Hill (inner loop only)
Skate race
Relay first, followed by individual mass start for those that don't fit onto a relay team.

Relay Race info:
Relay will be teams of either two girls or two boys.
Each skier in the relay will ski two laps, either laps 1 + 3 or laps 2 + 4.
The girls relay teams will start off first, followed shortly after by the boys relay teams.
Each leg of the relay will be ~2.5K, so each skier will end up skiing ~5K.

Mass Start Individual Race info:
Each skier will ski 2 laps for a total of ~5K.
Individual girls will start first, followed by individual boys.

Remember that there are NOT bathrooms or portapotties at Oak Hill, so please use the bathrooms at The Market or the Y.

Parking:
Buses and spectators should park in the plowed lot off of Allen Road. There is very limited space at the Pond. Absolutely no parking on the side of the road, especially along Rt. 231/Intervale Road. Overflow parking is available on the Pineland Farms campus.

It is expected to be a chilly day, so skiers and spectators should bundle up.

Skiers in the Relay Race should arrive around 10:00.
Skiers in the Individual Race should arrive around 11:00.

A wax recommendation will be posted soon.

Our teams on Monday will be:
Relay:
Emma + Nora
Bodhi + Conrad
Seamus + Wes

Individuals:
