Daily Plans:
Wednesday:
The Skillings have graciously offered to host a waxing party followed by a pasta dinner for the team.  The plan is:
1:30 - Practice at Pineland
3:15 - Head to the Skillings house (12 Pine Ridge Road, North Yarmouth) - Let Susan know by Wednesday 9:00am if you need a ride from Pineland to the Skillings house.
3:30 - 5:30 - Waxing
5:30 - 7:00 - Dinner

Team members not racing in states (and therefore not waxing) do not need to come to the waxing part (but are welcome to), but we hope everyone will come to the dinner.  We'll expect everyone to be at the dinner unless you let Susan know otherwise.

Sarah Pierce is making lasagna, but we need people to bring Salad, Bread, Drinks, Dessert.  If you can bring something, email Sarah (danandsarah.pierce@gmail.com) ahead of time and let her know, please don't just bring it.  Otherwise we'll end up with way too much.
Thank you to the Skillings and to Sarah for hosting/cooking!

Thursday:
9:00 - Vans will DRIVE AWAY from Desert Rd.  Skiers should arrive BY 8:50.
1:00 and 2:30 - Races
Vans plan to stop for a bite to eat on the way home at Portland Pie in Brunswick.  Vans should arrive back to Desert Rd around 6:00ish.  Skiers should bring $20 for dinner.

Friday:
7:30 - Vans will DRIVE AWAY from Desert Rd.  Skiers should arrive by 7:20.
10:00 and 11:00 - Races
1:30-2:30 - Vans return to Desert Rd

Transportation:
We will have two vans going to and from Quarry Rd on both race days.  See Daily Plans above for exact departure times.

ANYONE counting on a seat on a van must let Susan know by Wednesday at noon.  If this is you, please also include whether you need a ride both ways or just in one direction.

If you are getting yourself to the races, arrival times for skiers are:
Thursday - 10:00am
Friday - 8:30am

What Should You Bring to the Races?
  • CLASSIC/SKATE skis, boots and poles
  • Race suit
  • WARM clothes - including hat, mittens, race gloves, warm gloves, buff, etc.
  • Lunch/snacks for the day
  • Water bottle
  • Sleeping bag (optional)
  • Portable chair (optional)
  • Team Hat
  • Team Jacket
  • NOTE: We really want everyone (whether or not you are racing) to have their team jacket and team hat with them.  There will be photos at the end and we want to look like a team.
Quarry Road Facilities:
There is just a small yurt and porta-potties, so everyone at the races should plan on being outside.
We do not expect there will be food for sale, so be sure and bring your own food and water.

Food:
At states we plan to have some soup (Thursday), tea, hot chocolate, etc. to warm up.  Skiers will also need to bring their own more substantial food for the day.

It would be nice if a few folks brought cookies to share.  Please let Sarah Pierce (danandsarah.pierce@gmail.com) know if you will be bringing something.

Spectators:
Friends and families are most welcome and encouraged to come to the races! Quarry Road is just an hour from Freeport, so it is an easy day trip.
